The first gallery exhibit of the Art and Design of America’s Illustrator, J. D. King, is retrospect and forward. Major publications and corporations are identified by his graphic designs. His designs are published in the pages of The New York Times, Audubon Magazine, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Forbes, Newsweek, US News and World Report. We easily recognize ad campaigns and the identity graphics of Master Card/Visa, US Cellular and Absolut Vodka.
The exhibit presents a turn of the artist for advanced exploration built upon the artist’s love of simplified visual language. From influences of the 1960’s British Mods and Pop Art J. D. King moves fast forward into the precision of 21st century digital graphics and the warmth found in the relationship with art papers to achieve perfection in colors and shapes.
