AAUW Scholarhip Awards for Women

Mohawk Valley Branch of the American Association of University Women is awarding two or three scholarships of $1000 each. The J. M. Prentis Scholarship is intended for traditional students. The Renewal Scholarship is intended for returning adult students. Funds may be used for any college or personal expense related to the accomplishment of the applicant’s goal.

Applicants must...

• be women who will have completed at least one year of college at the end of this semester.
• be from the Mohawk Valley area
• carry at least twelve credits per semester
• maintain at least a 3.0 GPA

Previous winners of AAUW Scholarships may reapply in subsequent years.

Selection process

The selection process is competitive and applications are reviewed by the Scholarship Committee of the branch to evaluate the financial need, academic success and individual circumstances of each applicant. The grade transcript does not have to be official; a copy of the transcript from the internet is sufficient.

Scholarships may be used at the student’s present college or at a transfer college.

Awards

The applicants will receive written notice of the status of their application after the review process has been completed (at least by May 15).

Checks for the amount of the scholarship will be sent to the selected applicants upon proof of enrollment for the next semester. The check for fall semester will be for $500. At the end of the fall semester the scholarship students will need to submit to the Scholarship Committee chair a copy of their transcript for the fall semester and proof of enrollment for spring semester. If the student has continued her 3.0+ average and is registered for the spring semester, another check for $500 will be sent.
