S ummer Institute is an enjoyable introduction to life on the UC campus for Pioneer Scholars ... and a great way to spend part of your summer. A special five-week residential experience required for incoming freshmen in the Pioneer Scholars program, Summer Institute offers these benefits: FREE TUITION AND EXPENSES - UC covers all of your costs of attendance, including tuition, room and board, texbooks, and activities.
UP TO FIVE ACADEMIC CREDITS - Get a head start on your freshman year by earning three to five credits in just five weeks.
WEEKLY ALLOWANCE AND CREDIT FOR FRESHMAN YEAR TEXTBOOKS AND MATERIALS TOTALING $1,000 - While you're at Summer Institute, you'll receive a weekly allowance. And when you successfully complete the program and enroll as a freshman in the fall, you will receive a voucher for the UC bookstore that will cover your textbooks and materials. When you enroll for the following spring semester, you will receive a second voucher. Together, this adds up to a total grant of $1,000.
