Advice to Students
Pick the college that feels like 'home'. College will be the most exciting and rewarding experience in your life thus far. (It was for me when I was an undergraduate student). Anything you have ever wanted to do in high school, but were not able to, will now be accomplished in college; your opportunities are endless. The experiences, the friendships and the education that lie ahead are so incredibly enriching, it impossible to fully comprehend. Choose the institution that makes you feel unstoppable, and dive in! Your most exciting adventure awaits you!
Advice to Parents
Ask questions. As a parent you want to make sure that whatever college your child chooses is safe, progressive and has the appropriate support for your child to reach his or her highest goal. Once you have these preliminary questions answered, you have the unique opportunity to stand back and watch your child make one of the most important, life changing decisions of his or her life. Your student will want you to be there for support, but will also want you to trust them with their decision.
What's the Best Thing About UC?
The best thing about UC is the people! The students, the faculty and staff, the coaches and the administrators are all important pieces that make UC so special. Everyone really cares about each other and when a student is undergoing a life transition, like beginning college, it is important to have this network of 'helping hands'. Upon starting at UC, students are part of a web of professionals pushing them to succeed. This web consists of their academic advisor, academic coaching expert (ACE), resident hall assistant (RA), professors, admission counselors, coaches and every smiling face along the way from dining services, campus safety, and classmates. Professors have been known to give out their cell phone numbers to students if they have any questions after class. Utica College attracts positive, kind, people and it fosters an excellent environment to learn and grow.
