Advice to Students

Visit the schools you're considering and sign up for a campus tour. A very important part of deciding where to attend is getting a feel for the physical campus and the people there. Signing up for a campus tour can reveal unique things the school has to offer that you may not have found out otherwise. It will also give you insight into the student perspective of the campus, from the student tour guide.

Advice to Parents

Support your child in their school decision. Even if this means being further away from them, they will feel more comfortable with their decision knowing they have your support. Also, be open-minded if your child decides to change their major or career interests. It may take some time for students to settle on a specific area of study. Exploring their interests beforehand can help ensure that the student has truly found their right fit.

What's the Best Thing About UC?

Advice to Students

Be open minded. Choosing a college is not an easy decision and is one that should be made with careful consideration. Make sure that you look into all the aspects of each school you are interested in. Finding a school which offers your major of choice will be easy; finding the school that fits your needs as a student and fits your personality can be more difficult. Don’t rush your decision and always remember, your college experience should be just that-an experience. It is a rite of passage in life, and you should enjoy every part of it!

Advice to Parents

Be open-minded. This is a big decision that will affect the rest of your child’s life. College is going to be where your child becomes the person he/she is meant to be; it will be a growing experience as well as a learning experience, not only academically, but personally as well. You might not always agree with their decisions, but being open-minded and patient will allow them to find themselves, and choosing their college is the first step in their journey.

What's the Best Thing About UC?

The size! Utica College is a great school to come to if you are looking for smaller classes with more personal one-on-one attention. Because Utica is a smaller school, your individual needs are more likely to be met and your individual voice is more likely to be heard then in a school where it is easy to get lost in the crowd.
