UC's Fall Open House Brings 150 Families to Campus

On-campus event a big hit with visitors from Maine to Florida

Utica, NY (11/16/2005) - Approximately 150 prospective students and their families attended Utica College’s annual fall open house Nov. 11. In addition to students from New York and neighboring states, UC welcomed guests from Maine, Maryland, Georgia, Florida, Michigan, and Indiana.

“It was a great time for everybody,” said UC’s Director of Admissions Bill Sliwa. “What made this open house particularly outstanding was the geographic diversity of the attendees. Our staff just completed the fall recruiting season -- weeks of visiting schools and attending college fairs to introduce Utica College to high school juniors and seniors. It’s gratifying to see that all that out-of-state travel was well worth the effort.”
Students and parents had the opportunity to evaluate the day's events and the group consensus was very positive. One attendee wrote, “The school and faculty are very friendly.” Another said, “It was extremely informative. I was impressed with the warmth and attention from staff members and faculty.”

There are several upcoming on-campus events for those interested in learning more about Utica College. On Saturday, Nov. 19, the Office of Admissions is hosting “Saturday at UC” starting a 10 a.m. with a panel presentation followed by a campus tour. Also, on Wednesday, Dec. 7, Utica College will host the first of four “Winter Wednesdays” starting at 2 p.m.
