UC Dedicates New Welcome Center
Facility Honors Harry Cynkus '71, Family

Utica, NY (10/29/2015) - Utica College will formally dedicate the Cynkus Family Welcome Center on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 5:30 p.m.Named for Harry J. Cynkus ’71 and his wife Wendy, the new center is the first place
prospective students and their parents will stop when they visit Utica College. A longtime trustee and graduate of Utica College, Cynkus has been dedicated to the advancement of the college’s core mission. Cynkus recently retired after 17 years with Rollins Inc., where he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer.
With just over 5000 square feet of space, the Cynkus Family Welcome Center adds to the welcoming and personalized experience students expect at Utica College.
“One of the hallmarks of a UC education is the personal and individual attention that we give to our students and families,” said Dr. Jeffery Gates, vice president for student affairs and enrollment management. “We didn't have a place on campus that allowed us to begin the admissions process with this very important distinction of a UC education, the Cynkus Family Welcome Center is that place.”
