Graduating Nurses to be Recognized at Pinning Ceremony
UC to Honor 39 New Nurses Saturday

Pinning ceremony upholds long-standing tradition

Utica, NY (05/14/2015) - Utica College will conduct a pinning ceremony for graduating nursing students on Saturday, May 16 at 2 p.m. on the Library Concourse of the Frank E. Gannett Memorial Library. A centuries-old tradition, the pinning of nursing graduates is a special recognition of their hard work and commitment.A total of 39 graduating nurses will be honored during the ceremony. Nine of those students completed Utica College’s unique RN-to-BS program, which allows licensed nurses who already possess an associate’s degree, to seek a higher credential. The remainder of the group is graduating from the traditional four-year undergraduate-nursing program.
The students graduating from the traditional nursing program are: Moshoq Akbari, Sarah Albert, Naana Blay, Madison Bayer, Laura Butz, Shanise Carter, Patrick Cooney, Sonsia Court, Bryan Curtis, Carolyn Demartini, Luke Dishiavi, Priscilla Domfeh, Allysa Edwards, Rianne Erlwein, Ariana Garcia, Emily Gilbride, Elizabeth Guillaume, Amanda Ingham, Kristie Jones, Emily Kingsley.
Also: Jelani Knight, Chris Laquay, Nicholas Laquay, Olesya Lashchuk, Hannah MacKey, Sabrina Monosiet, Amanda Muldoon, Kristen Nettnin, Kelly Pawlikowski and Shirley Yeboah
In addition, the following students are graduating from the RN-to-BS program: Brenda Burton, Summer Costello, Sonya Lim, Cynthia McClarren, Crystal Stalnaker, Maggie Towles, Andrea Zumpano, Christol Jennings and Lindsay Ogorchock.
Utica College is host to an entire suite of nursing programs, including a campus-based undergraduate program, an online RN-to-BS program and the ABSN program in two locations, Liverpool, N.Y. and St. Petersburg, Fla. Nursing students across all three learning platforms have garnered several prestigious honors and achievements, including inductions into the esteemed Sigma Theta Tau (STTI) International Honor Society of Nursing.
