Utica, NY (04/20/2015) - On Monday, April 20, the Utica College Asa Gray Biological Society will conclude the spring 2015 Asa Gray Seminar Series with the lecture, Novel Relationships Between BER Glycosylases and Mutagenic DNA Adducts.

The lecture will examine the faulty repair of DNA adducts that occurs when single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) encounter base excision repair (BER) enzymes, and the mutagenic consequences and hypotheses behind this relationship.

Stephen DeVito, doctoral candidate in the tumor biology training program at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC, will lead the discussion. DeVito is a 2011 Utica College alumnus, earning his bachelor’s degree in biology. Prior to attending UC, DeVito served in the United States Air Force for seven years, including a seven-month tour in Iraq.

The event, held at 4 p.m. in Donahue Auditorium in the Gordon Science Center, is free and open to the public. An informal reception will immediately follow the lecture.
