Forum to Discuss Roots of Ukraine Crisis

Utica, NY (03/11/2015) - On Thursday, March 12, Utica College’s Pi Sigma Alpha will present the forum, “Historical Roots of the Current Ukraine Crisis.”

Barry Lituchy, the forum’s keynote speaker, will address the historical background of the current conflict in Ukraine, and focus on today’s implications from the forces of nationalism and fascism.

Lituchy has taught European, U.S. and World history for more than 25 years and has written several publications about the politics and history of the Balkans, as well as co-authored the book, “Jasenovac and the Holocaust n Yugoslavia.”

The forum, which is free and open to the public, is part of Pi Sigma Alpha’s “Conversation Series,” an event that gives students, faculty and the community the opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas about important public policy issues.

Pi Sigma Alpha, which has more than 700 chapters, is the only honor society in the country for students who study government.

“Historical Roots in the Current Ukraine Crisis” will take place at 7 p.m. in the Willard Conference Room in DePerno Hall. Refreshments will be served.
