Novelist Jessica Penner to Give Literary Reading

Utica, NY (02/12/2015) - On Wednesday, Feb. 18, as part the Professor Harry F. and Mary Ruth Jackson Lunch Hour Series, novelist Jessica Penner will give a literary reading. The reading will be held in Macfarlane Auditorium in UC’s DePerno Hall at 12:30 p.m.Penner earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Sarah Lawrence College. She published her first novel, Shaken in the Water, in 2013. Soon after, Penner was nominated for a Pushcart Prize; a prestigious award granted to the best work published by small American presses each year. The Historical Novel Society named Shaken in the Water Editor’s Choice in 2014. She has also published works of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry in Wordgathering, Luna Luna, The Fiddleback, and Bellevue Literary Review among others. She received honorable mentions on her fiction and non-fiction work from Open City and Bellevue Literary Review.
