Utica, NY (02/09/2015) - On Tuesday, Feb. 10, as part of New York Student Aid Alliance Advocacy Day, Utica College will send a student delegation to Albany. The UC students will join an expected 900 college students from across the state to meet with legislators to voice support for state-funded student aid programs.

Students will be able to meet with legislators directly to express their appreciation for state aid as well as explain how vital it is in making college affordable. State student aid programs include the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), Grad TAP, the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), the Science and Technology Entry Programs (STEP/C-STEP), and the Liberty Partnerships Program (LLP).

Each year, more than 370,000 college and university students depend on state student aid programs to help them achieve their higher education aspirations. More than five million New York state students have received state aid to help meet their college expenses over the past four decades.

Seats on the bus are still available. Contact the offices of Student Affairs, Student Financial Services, or Opportunity Programs at UC. Students can also show their support by joining the New York Student Aid Alliance at nystudentaidalliance.org.
