Professor to discuss new data on infection process

Utica, NY (11/17/2014) - On Monday, Nov. 17, Utica College’s Asa Gray Biological Society will present the seminar, “Human Cytomegalovirus Dissemination: Powering the ‘Trojan Horse’ Monocyte” as part of UC’s Cultural Events Series.The seminar will be led by Dr. Gary Chan, assistant professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Chan will discuss the finding of new data that indicates that the HCMV infection’s entry process directly stimulates a unique cellular signaling network specifically designed to drive the viability and differentiation of infected monocytes.
This seminar is free and open to the public, and will take place in Donahue Auditorium in Gordon Science Center at 4 p.m. An informal reception will follow. For more information, visit www.utica.edu/asagray.
