Utica, NY (10/08/2014) - On Thursday, Oct. 8, Film@UC will present the 2013 film “We Are the Best!”The film is an adaptation of the graphic novel "Never Goodnight" by Coco Moodysson, wife of director Lukas Moodysson.
Taking place in 1980s Stockholm, the storyline centers around three girls in their early teens who are largely seen as misfits. Determined to embrace their personalities, the three rebellious teens set out to create an all-girl punk band, though they lack any discernible musical talent. A portrait of do-it-yourself spirit and growing up different, the film offers a tender tribute to the tumult of adolescence.
“We Are the Best!” premiered at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival to much critical acclaim. The film received a “fresh” rating of 97 percent from the review website Rotten Tomatoes.
This film is free and open to the public, and will be shown in the Macfarlane Auditorium in the college’s DePerno Hall at 7 p.m. For more information, call (315) 792-3047 or visit utica.edu/culture.
