Utica, NY (10/01/2014) - In honor of College Radio Day on Oct. 3, Utica College’s radio station WPNR-FM (90.7FM) will unite with Colgate University’s WRCU-FM (90.1FM) and Cazenovia College’s WITC-FM (88.9FM) for a simulcast event featuring all three stations.

The broadcast will begin in front of UC’s Strebel Student Center at 2 p.m. Each student-run station will produce a one-hour program that showcases their individual station, and the entire program will be broadcast on all three stations.

Established in 2012, College Radio Day aims to encourage people all over to listen to college radio and become aware of the many college and high school stations operating around the world.

“Utica College gives students the unique opportunity to try their hand at a multitude of media platforms and garner firsthand experience,” said Douglas Croft, chief operator, advisor and WPNR station manager. “They get the chance to broadcast on live radio, as well as write for our campus newspaper, The Tangerine, and learn the ins and outs of broadcast television with UC TV.”

The event will be broadcast locally for the Utica region on 90.7FM, and it will be streamed live on the WPNR website.

WPNR-FM is a student-run radio station at Utica College that broadcasts a variety format. The station has served students and the Mohawk Valley community since its first wireless broadcast in 1961.
