Utica, NY (05/01/2014) - What is assisted dying? Should it be legalized in the United States? The Applied Ethics Institute at Utica College hosts Queens University professor and Ontario Research Chair Udo Schuklenk and his discussion “Why Legalizing Assisted Dying is a Good Idea.”The discussion is Thursday, May 8 at 7 p.m. in the Library Concourse at Utica College. It is free and open to the public.
Schuklenk will review arguments for and against the legalization of assisted dying, including “Does assisted dying violate human dignity?” and “Does the legalization of assisted dying lead to abuse affecting vulnerable people?” Schuklenk will also provide a brief review of current Canadian legal developments on the issue.
In addition to his position at Queen’s University, Schuklenk is a long-serving editor-in-chief of Bioethics, the journal of the International Association of Bioethics.
