Holocaust Educator to Speak at UC

Utica, NY (04/28/2014) - Millions of European Jews were killed by Nazis during the Holocaust. On Monday, April 28, the Diversity Committee and Office of Student Activities at Utica College will welcome Holocaust educator, author and activist Dan Hennessey. Hennessy will speak about “Why We Remember” at 5:30 p.m. in Strebel Auditorium.Hennessey is a trained Holocaust educator from the Yad Vashen International School of Holocaust Studies. He will support his talk with archival footage, film and readings, followed by a candlelight ceremony.
Hennessey said, “Study of the Holocaust helps us understand the effects of prejudice, racism and stereotyping in human society.”
A past recipient of the Meyer A. Nathan Scholarship for Holocaust Education awarded by the Anti-Defamation League, he wrote the book, “Remembrance And Repentance: The Call to Remember and Memorialize the Holocaust.”
The candlelight ceremony will be followed by a reception in the Pioneer Café.
