UC, MVCC Presidents to Sign Articulation Agreement

Seamless Transition into Health Studies Major

Utica, NY (04/24/2014) - The presidents of Utica College and Mohawk Valley Community College will sign a specialized transfer articulation agreement on Tuesday, April 29.  UC President Todd S. Hutton and MVCC President Randall VanWagoner will formally sign the agreement at 12:30 p.m. in President Hutton’s office.

The agreement awards students who have completed the Associate in Science: Liberal Arts & Sciences program at MVCC with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher acceptance into the Utica College Health Studies major. 

Students in this major garner solid grounding for professional accomplishment and more specialized study.  They may then choose to apply to the master’s degree graduate program in occupational therapy, the doctoral program in physical therapy, or the online master’s in health care administration; each of these programs has its own competitive entrance requirements.

Students work with a variety of health sciences-related learning resources across campus, including the state-of-the-art laboratory located in F. Eugene Romano Hall.

Transfer students will be eligible for scholarships and financial aid. MVCC transfer students are eligible to participate in internships, externships, co-ops, field placements and study abroad opportunities open to continuing Utica College students.

At Utica College, more than 95 percent of students receive financial aid, which typically offsets more than 50 percent of tuition cost. UC has a student-to-faculty ration of 11:1 with a typical class size of 20 students.

The agreement will remain in effect for a period of two years. Each institution agrees to provide timely notice to the other in event of any modification to the curriculum that might affect admission and transfer coursework.
