UC English Majors to Receive Honors

Department to Hold High Tea Ceremony Thursday

Three to be inducted into prestigious honor society

- Utica College’s English department will hold its annual High Tea Ceremony on Thursday, April 24 at 4 p.m.

The ceremony will include awarding departmental scholarship, the Ampersand literary magazine prizes and the Joseph Vogel Awards, in recognition of outstanding student creativity in poetry and fiction.

The ceremony will also include the induction of three English majors into Sigma Tau Delta: Rose Zaloom, Natalie Hurly and Sean Feener. It will take place in the Willard Conference Room, DePerno Hall.

Sigma Tau Delta is an international English honor society whose purpose is to confer distinction for high achievement in English language and literature studies. It aims to promote interest in literature and the English language and to foster the discipline of English in all of its aspects, including creative and critical writing.

Utica College’s English program is distinctive in its breadth and richness, providing a strong foundation of learning in literature, writing and the study of the English language. Supported by an exceptional faculty that includes published authors, literary scholars and linguists, UC's English major offers a wealth of options for student-directed research as well as opportunities for international study and publication in the College's literary magazine Ampersand.
