UC ROTC Unit to Host Awards Ceremony April 9

Contracting, Awards to beheld in Carbone Family Auditorium

Six UC students to take contracting oath


Utica, NY (04/03/2014)
- Utica College will host the Utica Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Contracting and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 9.

Lt. Colonel Michael Bianchi and Joseph Reid, military science instructor for U.S. Army Cadet Command and UC Army ROTC contractor, will present the awards. Six UC students will take their contracting oath, and awards will be presented to various college departments and individuals, recognizing their support for ROTC.

The ceremony is open to the public. It will take place at 11 a.m. in the Carbone Family Auditorium located in the Economic Crime, Justice Studies and Cybersecurity building. Refreshments will follow.

Utica College has been named one of America’s Top Military Friendly Schools for 2014 by MilitaryFriendlySchools.com for four straight years. UC has also been designated a Yellow Ribbon Participant, in recognition of the college’s participation with the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 and its willingness to work the vets for academic and financial flexibility.

The college is carrying on years of helping American veterans; when UC opened its doors on Oneida Square in 1946, most of its first students were returning WWII veterans. The college has also been named a Top Military-Friendly College by Military Advanced Education three years in a row.
