Donations for childhood cancer research
Utica, NY (03/27/2014)- More than 175,000 children are diagnosed with cancer every year. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation helps fund childhood cancer research through volunteers, supporters and more famously, haircuts.
On Friday, March 28, Utica College will host St. Baldrick’s Day head-shaving event beginning at noon in the Ellen Knower Clarke Lounge in the Strebel Student Center. The brave souls participating have raised pledges that will go toward the foundation’s cause.
Hosted by the Psychology-Child Life Society at the college, parents and children from the community are invited to attend and interact through a series of games and contests. Along with the head shaving, the Child-Life Society will hold a basket raffle for items donated by organizations on campus and in the Utica community.
There will also be a stage and “open mic” for anyone to express themselves through dance, songs, words of wisdom, or just reading a statistic.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.

Anyone wishing to donate can make checks payable to The St. Baldrick’s Foundation; donations can be dropped off at the event throughout the afternoon on Friday.
