Utica, NY (12/17/2013) - On Thursday, Dec. 19, the Utica College Education Club and Education Department will present a donation in the form of school supplies and books to Watson-Williams Elementary School in Utica.Over the past month, the UC Education Club has collected donations around the UC campus through events and fundraisers. The club collected two large storage bins full of supplies and books, and raised more than $50 to purchase school supplies.
“We hope that all of the donations raised can be of great use to the students at Watson Williams,” said Jennifer Harvey, president of the UC Education Club. “As our club grows in the next few years, we plan to increase the success of this holiday event to help more students by expanding to more schools.”
The UC Education Club, which focuses on teachers and the field of education, allows students to expand their knowledge and education skills through fellowship with other education students. In its first year of being re-established, the club has gained 12 active members.
The UC Education Club and Education Department will present the donations to the principal, faculty and staff of Watson-Williams at 1 p.m.
