Utica, NY (09/23/2013) - On Tuesday, Oct. 1, Utica College will host a dedication ceremony of memorial trees in memory of two members of the UC community, Lisa Davis and Paul Young.

Davis joined the UC community in 2004 as associate director of student counseling services. She was later promoted to director of counseling and student development. Davis passed away on Jan. 23, 2013 after a long battle with cancer.

Young earned his Ph.D. in U.S. history from the University of Iowa and taught there before joining the UC faculty in 2001. At UC, he taught history and black studies and served as an advisor for several groups on campus. Young, who also fought a long battle with cancer, passed away on Oct. 1, 2012.

The trees are located on the pathway between the Frank E. Gannett Memorial Library and F. Eugene Romano Hall. The ceremonies will begin at 4 p.m., followed by a reception in the Pioneer Café. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremonies will be held in the Pioneer Café.
