Utica, NY (08/28/2013) - Utica College’s Cultural Events series kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 29 with Film @ UC’s showing of “Chico & Rita,” nominated for Best Animated Feature Film in 2012.The 2010 animated film, directed by Fernando Trueba, Javier Mariscal and Tono Errando, follows the love story of a young piano player and a beautiful singer who leave Havana and travel across the world to follow their showbiz dreams and search for a life of fame. The two, united by music and desire, find fame as their relationship’s downfall as they work to overcome heartbreak in this Cuban film set in the '40s.
The film is free and open to the public, and will be shown in the Macfarlane Auditorium in the college’s DePerno Hall at 7 p.m. For more information call (315) 792-3047 or visit utica.edu/culture.
