UC to Host Domestic Violence Forum


Educational Forum Open to Public

Utica, NY (10/24/2012) - Nearly three out of four Americans know someone who is or has been a victim of domestic violence. Utica College will host a domestic violence forum on Wednesday, Oct. 31 in the Carbone Family Auditorium, in the Economic Crime, Justice Studies and Cybersecurity building. The forum, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 3 p.m.

A panel discussion will include Hon. Bernadette Clark, New York State Supreme Court; Hon. Randall Caldwell, Presiding Supreme Court Justice for Oneida County Integrated Domestic Violence Court; and Dawn Lupi, Oneida County First Assistant District Attorney. Speakers will also include Chief Mark Williams, Utica Police Department; Investigator Elizabeth Shanley, Utica Police Department Domestic Violence Unit; Kelly M. Virkler, a licensed mental health counselor at the Neighborhood Center; Alan Goldenbach, assistant professor of journalism at UC and former Washington Post reporter; and Deb Galotti, director, YWCA of the Mohawk Valley Crisis Services.
