Utica, NY (03/30/2012) - Utica College’s O’mighty Omicron Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. is holding A Night of Theatrical Expressions on Saturday, March 31, at 5 p.m. in UC’s Library Concourse. The banquet is a celebration of the fraternity’s 98th national anniversary and its 28th anniversary of being on UC’s campus. The proceeds from the event will be donated to the March of Dimes Foundation, an organization that focuses on preventing birth defects and infant mortality through research and awareness campaigns.
A “Mission Mom” from the March of Dimes Foundation will deliver a keynote speech. There also will be a dinner and entertainment includes singers, a pianist, a flautist, acts, dancing and awards.
Keron Alleyne, president of the fraternity, said that the event is a kick-off for its Eight Days of Sigma and is a representation of many of the values the fraternity stands for including brotherhood, scholarship and service.
“At this point in time, it means everything that we can still have the service aspect of the fraternity along with the Night of Theatrical Expressions,” he said.
Treasurer Kenneth Agyapong said that some alumni are coming to help celebrate the event starting on Friday.
“A lot of them haven’t been campus since it’s been changed, so they can see that and they can share stories with the rest of us,” he said.
Tickets for the event are free for UC students with an ID and $25 for non-UC students.
