Utica, NY (02/20/2012) - Utica College will host “Many Cultures, One Community: A Live Storytelling Event” on Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Carbone Family Auditorium of the Economic Crime and Justice Studies Building.

This event is an opportunity for the campus and the community to gather and share stories that celebrate our diverse origins and ultimate commonalities.

This event complements Utica College’s 2011-2012 campus theme of “Many Cultures, One Community,” which is part of the college’s ongoing effort to address and promote diversity throughout the campus.

A reception at 4:30 p.m. will precede the storytelling and the event will conclude with impromptu “open-mic” stories.
For those interested in sharing a five-minute (or less) story illustrating your culture of origin, assimilation into another culture, or the different cultures of which you are a part, send a short biography and story summary to Melissa Febos, Utica College assistant professor of English, at mefebos@utica.edu.

This event is sponsored by the Mohawk Valley Writing Project (MVWP).

For any questions regarding the event, contact Mary Ann Janda, Utica College professor of English and MVWP director, at (315) 792-3225.
