Utica, NY (12/08/2011) - As he makes the transition to his new job as mayor of the City of Utica, Robert Palmieri has enlisted the help and expertise of area leaders that will aid him on a “transition team.” Utica College president Dr. Todd S. Hutton will be one of nine members of Palmieri’s hand-selected team of advisers.Hutton, along with the rest of the team, met with the mayor-elect for the first time at City Hall on Dec. 6 to discuss goals for the group. Members at that meeting were broken up into committees that will do research independently and report back to the team at the next meeting on Dec. 19.
Hutton previously served on current mayor David Roefaro’s transition team in 2007, prior to Roefaro’s four-year term in the city’s top seat
.
The transition team will look to deal with issues such as the city’s financial situation as well as larger goals for the future of the new mayor’s term. Palmieri will assume his new office in January.
