Utica, NY (05/24/2011) - Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar in North Utica will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser on Sunday, June 5 from 8 to 10 a.m. to support the Young Scholars Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP).

Through collaboration with Utica College and the Utica City School District, Young Scholars LPP is a multi-year program dedicated to motivating young students to stay in school, earn a New York State regents diploma with advanced designation and pursue post-secondary education.

Young Scholars LPP has had success over the last 11 years, boasting a 94 percent graduation rate. Also, since 2005, 97 percent of the Young Scholars LPP high school graduates have enrolled in institutions of higher learning.

According to Young Scholars LPP Director Flossie Mitchell, the money raised from the fundraiser will go toward the group’s annual Washington, D.C. field trip.

“The event provides a great opportunity for the community to assist a local non-profit and support students who are involved in this program,” Mitchell said.

All are welcome to attend the event. Tickets are $5 per adult and $2 for children under 5. Tickets will be available at the door on the day of the event and 80 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Young Scholars LPP.

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar is located at Riverside Center, Utica.

For more information, please contact Flossie Mitchell at (315) 792-3237 or fmitchell@utica.edu.
