Local Artist Returns to Open Exhibit
Reception, Performance at Barrett Fine Art Gallery

Utica, NY (04/06/2011) - Utica native and esteemed artist Patrick Fiore returns home to share the first in his national exhibit tour with his hometown and regional community at Utica College beginning on Friday, April 8.Fiore’s most recent collection of works, “Significant Souls: Paintings and Illustrations inspired by Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States 1492-present,” speaks to the importance of each life that weaves together the textural history of the United States.
In addition to an artist talk on the exhibit, the opening reception will also feature an academic-based performance of historic American personalities called “Voices of the People” in partnership with the Howard Zinn Project and The History Channel. The performances have been produced and will be acted out by 24 UC students along with renowned academic performance artist Charles Everett Pace, playing Frederick Douglass.
The opening reception will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. The exhibit will remain open until May 4 and can be viewed extended hours: Monday through Friday from 1 to 6 p.m., and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
Workshops and discussions with Fiore are scheduled throughout the exhibit month.
