UC's Executive Speaker Series to Feature Business, Retail Developer

Executive Speaker Series brings real-world experienced professionals to students, community

Utica, NY (03/24/2011) - On Thursday, March 31, Larry Adler will speak to students and the community about business and retail development. Part of Utica College’s Business and Economics department’s Executive Speaker Series, the event will begin at 7 p.m. in the Economic Crime and Justice Studies Auditorium, and is free and open to the community.Adler’s presentation will address many aspects of business and retail development, including legal issues, construction and lining up national franchises. In 2000, he left the security of his position as director of development with The Pyramid Companies to build his own enterprise, The Cameron Group. Adler oversees the management, development and construction of Cameron’s properties. Since its inception, the Cameron Group has amassed more than 3.5 million square feet of properties in New York, Massachusetts, Florida, New Jersey and Kansas — 300,000 of which became The Orchard in New Hartford.
At The Pyramid Companies, Adler was responsible for leasing retail space to department stores and anchor tenants. Prior to Pyramid, Adler was a trader for the New York Futures Exchange, an account executive at Empire State Consulting, and an accounting manager for the New York Telephone Company.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute in 1983 and his juris doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 1987.
The Executive Speaker Series at Utica College invites local and regional business professionals to share their expertise with students and interested members of the community.
“Students love to hear firsthand stories of business triumphs and challenges,” said Rick Fenner, executive director of business and economics at the college.
