Utica, NY (09/22/2010) - It’s that time of year again! Utica College will celebrate its annual Alumni and Family Weekend this Friday (Sept. 24) through Sunday (Sept. 26). Homecoming festivities will begin Friday evening.

Some weekend highlights include the Homecoming football game, where Utica College will take on Wilkes University at 2 p.m. Saturday in Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. A pre-game party and barbeque will be held outside of the stadium, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Fireworks will light up the sky from the athletic grounds at 9:15 p.m.

The President’s Parent Dinner will be held Friday night from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by the men’s lacrosse alumni game and reception and Casino Night in Strebel Student Center, both beginning at 8 p.m. A carnival will also be held on the lawn behind Strebel Student Center from 9 to 11 p.m. Also on Friday, occupational therapy alumni, students and friends are invited to “a day back in the classroom” throughout the day in celebration of the OT program’s 40th anniversary, just one of many such reunions.

At 8 a.m. Saturday, a continental breakfast will be served in Gordon Science Center for those attending the science reunion symposia. Areas of discussion will include biology, chemistry, geology and physics. Alumni sporting events will begin at 10 a.m. with baseball and women’s lacrosse, followed by field hockey at 11 a.m. The Golden Pioneer Luncheon, hosted by President Todd S. and Mrs. Jennifer Hutton, will begin at 11 a.m. in the Library Concourse. All are invited to visit the Edith Langley Barrett Fine Art Gallery from 10:30 a.m. to noon. UC Professor Emeritus of Biology William H. Gotwald Jr. will share his memories and travel adventures with all who attend his “African Masquerade and the Collector’s Dilemma” exhibit. Later in the evening, the tradition continues with UC’s Pub Night in Strebel Student Center from 9:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m.

Homecoming weekend will come to a close after the Alumni Awards Breakfast at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Registration and information will be available for alumni in Strebel Student Center from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
