Utica, NY (09/20/2010) - The 2010 film “Pelada” kicks up a storm in UC as soccer fans see the game they love and critics learn the truth about soccer. The film shows two friends, Luke and Gwendolyn, who journey around the world to find various stories behind pickup soccer. The former American college soccer players visit 25 countries where they learn various names for the game, different reasons for playing the game and the power behind soccer.
The film captivates the beauty of the game in its purest form. “Pelada” ignores the expert stadiums, sophisticated arenas and dazzling lights and visits the streets, fields, parks, yards and alleys.
“Pelada" is a 2010 documentary directed by Americans Luke Boughen, Rebekah Fergusson, Gwendolyn Oxenham and Ryan White.
“Pelada” will be shown on Thursday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. in Macfarlane Auditorium, DePerno Hall, Utica College. The screening is free and open to the public.
