Utica, NY (01/25/2010) - If you love science fiction films, this Film@UC feature is right up your alley. Utica College will screen “Canary” on Thursday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m. in Macfarlane Auditorium, DePerno Hall.Directed by Alejandro Adams in 2009, this dystopian biotech thriller gets its name from the fictional concept behind it, Canary Industries. This “organ redistribution” plant specializes in getting organs to people who need them. This service is provided with the provision that each recipient must sign a conscientious usage contract stating that the organs may be repossessed at any time if the owner abuses the body. Redistribution specialists are employed to take back the organs from those who violate the contract, whether they are adults, children or babies. All must follow the terms of agreement.
Twitchfilm.net promotes the movie as a “small-budget film that successfully blends though provoking, as opposed to preachy, social commentary with novel forms of visual story telling.”
This screening is free and open to the public. For more information call (315)792-3047.
