UC Presents Student Life Awards


Seniors, Faculty, Staff Honored

UC honors students for outstanding contributions to life on campus

Utica, NY (05/06/2009) - Thirteen members of Utica College’s graduating class of 2009 were honored with Dean Robert Woods Student Life awards recently. The award, named after Robert Woods who served as UC’s vice president for student affairs and dean of students from 1987 until 2002, is presented to members of the graduating class who made significant contributions to student government, the performing or fine arts, community service, athletics, student publications and media, or campus social and cultural activities.

The honorees are:

• Kendra F. Arzu (Cambria Heights, N.Y.)
• Sheri A. Fedor (Sauquoit, N.Y.)
• Natalie M. Hoyle (Hamilton, N.Y.)
• Jacqueline M. Klotzbach (Hilton, N.Y.)
• William K. Lanfear (Fultonville, N.Y.)
• Jessica C. Leclerc (Augusta, M.E.)
• Amanda M. Mondrick (Utica, N.Y.)
• Christopher J. Strain (Van Hornesville, N.Y.)
• Tonya M. Vanderlinde (Clyde, N.Y.)
• Jacqueline G. Vicencio (Utica, N.Y.)
• Leroy Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.)
• Danyelle M. Wong (Natick, N.Y.)
  
“I am honored to win a Student Life award at UC,” said Sheri Fedor, a senior health studies/physical therapy major. “There is an overwhelming amount of participation among my peers involved in student life here at UC, so to be chosen for this prestigious award out of so many deserving individuals is a real honor.” 
  
In addition, the college recognized three members of the faculty or staff for their impact on the college campus and assistance to student organizations. Colleen M. Sunderlin, associate professor of occupational therapy, was honored with the faculty award, and Lisa A. Davis, director of student counseling services, and Paul H. Lehmann, director of student activities, were the staff awardees.
  
The 16 award winners will be recognized during the college’s 60th commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 17 at 11 a.m. at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
