Utica, NY (04/15/2009) - The Student Gerontology Society (SGS) of Utica College is exhibiting the creative works of art by senior citizens through April 19. The spring showcase is free and open to the public and takes place in the Frank E. Gannett Memorial Library.
The second annual event, dubbed “Creativity Continues,” is coordinated by SGS of Utica College.

“The artists absolutely love explaining their works of arts; the effort, the details and the inspiration,” said Diana Piekielniak, president of SGS. “We are happy to provide a platform in which these artists can display their creative endeavors and share it with the Utica College students and the community.”

Most artists are over the age of 65 and come from area senior centers, including Ava Dorfman Senior Center, Masonic Care Community, Parkway Senior Center, and the Sitrin Health Care Center. The exhibit coincides with National Careers in Aging Week, which takes place from April 12 through April 18. At the conclusion of the exhibit, the artwork will be returned to the artists.
