Utica, NY (04/06/2009) - Her works often explore the contradictions and conflicts facing women today. Her characters often face cruel fates brought on by their own actions and just as often by the brutal capriciousness of a chaotic world. Writer and lecturer Naomi Leimsider imbues her stories and her characters with a nervous randomness and the wrenching rawness of life itself.Leimsider is a lecturer in expository writing, literature, creative writing and fiction writing at both CUNY Hunter College and CUNY York College. She is a fiction workshop leader and a reader in the annual New American Writers’ Festival held at Hartwick College. Her short fiction has appeared in many online and print journals including Quarterly West, Summerset Review and Blood Lotus Journal. She earned her master’s degree in fine arts from Brooklyn College and is a former co-editor of The Brooklyn Review.
Leimsider will be the featured speaker at the Professor Harry F. and Mary Ruth Jackson Lunch Hour Series on Wednesday, April 8 at 12:30 p.m. in Macfarlane Auditorium, DePerno Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Kristen Phelps at (315) 792-3028.
