Lavender Trio: Perfect Springtime Performance

Utica, NY (03/09/2009) - Elizabeth Evans, Heather Johnsen and Judy Marchione make up the Lavender Trio, a local wind ensemble that will perform at Utica College on Wednesday, March 11 as part of the weekly Professor Harry F. and Mary Ruth Jackson Lunch Hour Series. The set begins at 12:30 p.m. in the Library Concourse and is free and open to the public.Elizabeth Evans, a flutist from New Hartford, won the James Pappoutsakis Memorial Flute Competition in 1985, and has also taken first place in the Conservatory Gala Chamber Music Competition on four separate occasions. She belongs to the B Sharp and Etude Music clubs.
Playing the bassoon is Judy Marchione. She earned her master’s degree at nearby Eastman School of Music in Rochester and currently plays with the Utica Symphony.
Clarinetist Heather Johnsen rounds out the band. A former faculty member at SUNY Fredonia, her resume includes performances with the Goldovsky Opera Company, the American Wind Symphony, and the Buffalo Creative Associates.
The Lavender Trio’s pieces are arranged by Edward Ruchalski, a music instructor from Le Moyne College. He was the recipient of two artist grants from Syracuse’s Cultural Resources Council and has eight studio albums.
The Professor Harry F. and Mary Ruth Jackson Lunch Hour Series is sponsored by the Utica College Social Cultural Committee. The series has provided UC and the local community with poetry, fiction, drama, and musical performances since 1979. For more information, call (315) 792-3028.
