Utica, NY (07/18/2008) - Utica College continues to grow. A record number of freshmen have participated in orientation this week, and will soon pack their bags to head to the Burrstone Road campus for the fall semester. More than 600 students have committed to attend UC, in addition to 175 transfer commitments. These numbers represent the largest combined class in UC history.A nursing program with an outstanding reputation and assistance from financial aid helped freshman Fabio Sanchez of the Bronx decide on UC. “I heard that UC had a great nursing program,” he said. “And UC offered me a very generous financial aid package.”
The college will offer five new undergraduate majors this fall: construction management, risk management and insurance, geoscience, biochemistry and gerontology.
The burgeoning enrollment at UC bucks a national trend of projected dwindling numbers of traditional students entering college, according to the American Council of Education.
