Soprano Neva Pilgrim to Speak at UC
Luncheon Kicks Off UC's Women's History Month

UC's Womyn's Resource Center holds luncheon Monday

Utica, NY (02/20/2008) - Utica College’s Womyn’s Resource Center will kick off its celebration of Women’s History Month with its annual “In Celebration of Women” luncheon (Monday) March 3. Colgate University’s artist-in-residence and world-renowned soprano Neva Pilgrim will deliver the keynote address. This year’s theme is “Women’s Art, Women’s Vision.” Pilgrim will deliver her presentation “A Women’s Place Is…” at the celebration.Pilgrim has recorded more than 20 records and CDs and performed with the New York Philharmonic and the Chicago Symphony. Critics have hailed her as an “enormously expressive artist” whose rich soprano voice has been described as “warm and elegant.” A native Minnesotan, Pilgrim earned degrees from Hameline and Yale Universities. She also studied at the Vienna Academy of Music on a Ditson Fellowship.
