UC Names Valedictorian, Salutatorian


Doctor of Physical Therapy Named Academic Rep of Graduate Class

Chemistry major Elizabeth Hyer tops undergrads; history major Jennifer Miller named salutatorian

Utica, NY (05/03/2007) - Utica College has named Elizabeth Hyer as valedictorian of the 2007 undergraduate class. Jennifer Miller has been named salutatorian.

Hyer, daughter of Richard and Antoinette Hyer of Utica, is a graduate of Holland Patent High School. She earned a cumulative grade point average of 4.0 after enrolling at Utica College in 2001 as a part-time student, later becoming a full-time chemistry major. She plans to attend graduate school at some point in the future. Hyer resides in Ilion with her two young children.

Miller is a history major and will graduate with a cumulative GPA of 3.96. She is the daughter of Douglas and Karen Miller of Herkimer. Miller attended Herkimer High School, and has been accepted at both SUNY Albany and Columbia University for graduate studies.

Erik Nassif, son of Joseph and Susan Nassif, has been named the Academic Representative of the graduate class with a GPA of 3.85. He will receive his doctorate of physical therapy and plans to begin working as a physical therapist at the Fitness Forum in Herkimer. Nassif lives in Deerfield with his wife Barbara and sons Nicholas and Dean.

The 2007 commencement ceremony will take place May 13 at 11 a.m. at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
