Student Poets, Fiction Writers Take Center Stage
UC Celebrates 2007 Ampersand Publication

Utica, NY (04/23/2007) - The works of talented student poets and fiction writers will be presented on Monday, April 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Library Concourse at Utica College.The reading/reception event will celebrate the 2007 publication of the campus literary magazine the Ampersand. There will be featured readings of poetry and fiction by students whose work appears in the magazine.
Connor Downing, editor-in-chief of the Ampersand said, “We would love it if students and community members came out for this event to show support for the arts in the greater Utica area,”
The Ampersand, published once a year, is a compilation of poetry, artwork, photography, and short stories submitted by students at UC.
Gary Leising, assistant professor of English and faculty advisor of the Ampersand, said, “The reading/reception is a nice opportunity to see the creative work the students are doing.”
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available.
