Utica, NY (04/12/2007) - Patricia Swann, associate professor of public relations at Utica College, has published a book examining more than 50 examples of public relations management, including the tactics of three local organizations.Cases in Public Relations Management looks at communication strategies, crisis communication management and consumer and community relations. The book discusses different types of examples, some with outcomes that were not always successful, to teach readers to approach situations analytically. Three examples discussed in the book include the Mohawk Valley Economic Development Growth Enterprises Corporation, Hamilton College, and the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
“Each case is designed to encourage discussion, debate, and exploration of the options available to the strategic public relations manager today,” Swann said. The book is intended for communication professionals and upper-level public relations students and was published by McGraw-Hill.
Prior to joining Utica College in 2002, Swann was a professor at SUNY Morrisville. She earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo., and a master’s degree in public relations from Syracuse University. Swann has received awards on local, state and national levels for her writing and photography and for work in public relations and publication design. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and advises the Public Relations Student Society of America at Utica College.
