Utica, NY (10/04/2006) - The International Human Rights Education Consortium (IHREC) will hold a round table discussion at Utica College on Saturday, Oct. 7.

The discussion and planning meeting will address the future of human rights education, focusing on outcomes, curriculum and competencies. Leading the discussion will be Theodore Orlin, Harold T. Clark Jr. professor of human rights scholarship and advocacy at Utica College and president of IHREC, and Mark Ensalaco, director of international studies and human rights programs at the University of Dayton.

IHREC’s mission is to promote education, collaboration, and research in human rights at national, regional, and global levels. The consortium, of which Utica College is a founding member, was created by educators in human rights to promote collaboration, develop curriculum, educate and train professionals in the field, and to support and prepare human rights educators and advocates at all levels.

The round table discussion is open to educators interested in human rights education. For more information please contact Orlin at ihrec@utica.edu or Ensalco at Mark.Ensalaco@notes.udayton.edu.
