Utica, NY (08/22/2006) - UTICA, N.Y. (Aug. 22, 2006) – Two local artists who view the world through a camera lens will exhibit their work at Utica College. The two photographers, Larry Pacilio and Frank Forte, will showcase their unique and diverse views of personal culture and public access in an exhibition titled “Perceptions in Gathered Light” in the Edith Langley Barrett Fine Arts Gallery. An opening reception for the artists will be held Wednesday, Aug. 30 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the gallery; it is free and open to the public.
“Perceptions in Gathered Light” features the artists’ disparate views of natural landscape and high-powered vehicles, using film and digital photography. Pacilio, director of publications and photography at Utica College, is a former photojournalist who has had work published in Newsweek and The New York Times. For this exhibition, Pacilio uses black and white film to highlight his interests in the ubiquitous along the sides of local roads. Forte, a financial services representative, explores the camera as access in the culture of personal relationships to customized machines of transportation. His work has appeared in Hot Rod and American Iron magazines.
The Edith Langley Barrett Fine Arts Gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. “Perceptions in Gathered Light” will be presented through Sept. 29. For more information, please contact Carolynne Whitefeather, gallery director, at 792-5289 or cwhitefeather@utica.edu.
