One of her poems was published in the Ampersand, Utica College’s literary magazine, as was her story “Dead Tired,” which earned her the Joseph Vogel Award.
The Grace and Arthur Perlmutter Scholarship Fund, underwritten in April of 2001 through a $100,000 gift from Walter M. Perlmutter, Utica College class of 1950, is awarded annually to a Utica College English major who has demonstrated overall academic excellence, maintained a 3.0 grade point average, and has displayed a strong interest in literature.
Walter Perlmutter, who named the scholarship in honor of his parents, is the retired president and chief executive officer for Perlmutter Victor Cavanagh, a toy, hobby, and video game sales agency in the Midwest. Perlmutter, who was among the original class of students at Utica College, once worked at The Observer-Dispatch after earning his degree from UC.
