The Need:
A Long-Overdue Upgrade

B uilt in 1963 and essentially unchanged from that era, Gordon has exceeded the limits of its ability to support the enormous growth in the College’s science programs and the rapid advances in research and technology that affect instruction in biology, chemistry and related programs. The Solution:
Crucial Renovation of Existing Facilities
P hase I of the Gordon Science Center renovation will provide for redesigned laboratory spaces in Biology and Chemistry. The planned improvements will:
- Provide for a more collaborative, versatile learning environment
- Offer easier access to high-tech equipment
- Improve workstation ergonomics
- Facilitate more intensive and sophisticated research
- Provide for fewer disruptions of experimentation and classes
- Allow greater freedom of movement and enhanced safety
- Enable more effective, efficient, and cost-appropriate maintenance
- Expand opportunities for learning and experimentation
- Promote enhanced environmental quality and safety
- Facilitate reliable and effective utilization of existing research technologies
