Tip 3a: Understanding the Menu Bar

Tutorial Information

The menu bar has links that are available on all your course web pages. To view more information about each link on the Menu Bar, choose an item from the drop-down list:

You can view the tutorial in two other ways. The Adobe Acrobat Format allows you print out the tutorial with page breaks in appropriate places. The Movie Format allows you view actual screen shots and mouse movements in much more dynamic fashion. Below are the links to the tutorial information in other formats:

Tip 3a: The Menu Bar

Each area of the menu bar is explained in detail below:

1. myWebCT Link - Clicking on this link will take back to the myWebCT page. This will give you access to other the course you may be registered. (See Fig. M1-1)

2. Check Browser Link - Clicking on this link will allow you to see if the browser you are using is version supported by WebCT. (See Fig. M1-2)

3. Log Out Link - Clicking on this link will take you back to the login page for WebCT. (See Fig. M1-3)

4. Help Link - Clicking on this link will take you to the online help. The help pages are sensitive to where you are within your course. For example, if you are on the Homepage and you click on the "Help" link within the Menu Bar, you will be presented help about the Homepage. If you are on a Content Page and you click on the "Help" link within the Menu Bar, you will be presented information about Content Pages. (See Fig. M1-4)

5.Resume Course Link - Clicking on this link will take you back to the last content page you have visited. For example, if you have visited a content module called "Frames Information" and the last page you clicked on was "Learning Activity 2 - Frame Links." The next time you come into the course you choose the "Resume Course" link from the menu. You will be taken to the "Learning Activity 2 - Frame Links" page without having to go through the rest of the content. (See Fig. M1-5)

6. Course Map Link - Clicking on this link will take you to an area that will allow you to quickly find a link within the course. For example, if you need to get your quizzes. Choose the "Course Map" link within the Menu Bar and then click on the "Quizzes" link. (See Fig. M1-6)
