- Specialized, fee-based resources that require UC Library maintain a license and paid subscription for their use
- Usually priced based on the number of current UC full time students, faculty and staff
- Governed by a license that stipulates only current UC students, faculty and staff will be granted use of the resource
- Restricted to current UC students, faculty and staff

- E-Books

More about Off Campus Login
While not strictly required for using Off Campus Login, following are answers to some of the more frequently asked questions about this service
How does Off Campus Login work?
- When you enter your UC Account username and password into Off Campus Login, the College's secure proxy server authenticates, or validates, that you are authorized to access licensed electronic resources
- The proxy server then passes you through to the licensed electronic resource, which can now recognize you as a valid UC Library user
Why do I need to use Off Campus Login?
Not all Internet resources are free ...
- UC Library provides access to specialized fee-based resources that require we maintain a license and paid subscription for their use. We call these licensed electronic resources.
- As part of the licensing agreement for these resources, UC Library agrees to limit their use to current Utica College students, faculty and staff
- Off campus login allows the Library to ensure that all current UC students, faculty and staff gain access to licensed electronic resources while restricting users not associated with the College
I don't need to use Off Campus Login first anymore?
Nope!
- We've updated and streamlined our web pages so that you no longer need to use Off Campus Login before selecting a resource
- Instead, select the resource you'd like to use. If Off Campus Login is needed for that resource, you'll be prompted to login, just like before!
Why Change?
- Our goal is to provide the same library resources and services to the entire UC community, no matter how you access our site or our resources
- We hope this new procedure makes using UC Library online resources easier and offers all our patrons a similar research experience
Do I have to use Off Campus Login if I'm on campus?
- Most computers on the UC campus do not need to use Off Campus Login to access licensed electronic resources
- How the computer you're using connects to the UC network determines whether Off Campus Login is needed
UC Wireless Network
- The UC wireless network may be used by anyone within range to connect to the Internet, not just current UC students, faculty and staff
- If the computer you are using connects to the Internet through the UC wireless network, you will be requested to use Off Campus Login to access licensed electronic resources
What computers use the UC wireless network?
- Computers located off campus (e.g. your personal computer in your home office)
- Library laptops
- Personal laptops configured to work on the UC wireless network
- Computers located in Champlin or Burrstone houses
Accessing Licensed E-Resources from non-UC Library web pages
- Connect to licensed electronic resources from a UC Library web page!
- Databases, e-journals and other licensed electronic resources will not recognize you as a UC Library user if you connect from web pages not associated with UC Library, including:
- Google or any search engine search result list
- uticaonline syllabus or other online course material
- Another library's web site
- A bookmark or favorite
Recognition
- Licensed electronic resources are not free and only current UC students, faculty and staff may access them
- UC Library pages prompt you to use Off Campus Login so that these fee-based resources recognize you as a UC Library user
- UC Library does not subscribe to every available licensed electronic resource:
- Navigating from UC Library pages ensures that you are selecting your research resources from the most current listing of those available through UC Library
