Technology in UC Library: Combined Version

UC Library provides the community with a variety of technology resources and services, including computers, photocopiers and a scanner.
 

Library Computers

UC Library offers a variety of computing services to the community. Our services compliment the wider array of technology services offered on campus. 

Learn More About Computing @ UC 

  • Go to UC Computer Labs for all campus lab schedules, computer configurations, and software 
  • Go to ResNet to learn more about wireless network card installation and troubleshooting Residence Hall networking issues 

Information Commons Computers

UC Library provides many PC computers dedicated for research purposes in the Information Desk area and has a supply of laptops available for student check out from the Circulation Desk 

Access

  • Access is restricted to current UC students, faculty and staff by use of a Utica College login

Use

  • The reference computers are intended primarily for library research but are also available for other academic uses. 
  • Information Commons computers are loaded with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software ( Microsoft Office and Adobe) 
  • The Laptop Lending Program offers students portable computers for use in the Library
Laptop Lending Program
  • Laptops access the Internet using the UC wireless network and include typical software 

Public Use Computer
  • Located on the second floor at the top left of the staircase, this computer provides: 
    • Access to the Internet and a web browser
    • Printing for $0.10 per page
    • Not available: word processing, spreadsheet, presentation or desktop publishing software 

Printing from Library Computers

  • Printing from either the these computers or laptops deducts from your Student Print account allotment
  • Duplex printing (double-sided) is the default 
  • Personal laptops do not print in the Library
 

How to Turn Off Duplex (Double-Sided) Printing

  1. Go to File > Print
  2. Select either the Properties or Preferences button
  3. Select the Finishing tab
  4. Remove the check from the box labeled "Print on both sides"


UC Wireless Network

  • Laptops for in the Laptop Lending Program access the Internet on the UC wireless network 
  • UC students, faculty and staff may access the Internet in the Library from personally owned laptops using the UC wireless network 
  • Use of the UC wireless network is restricted to current UC students, faculty and staff by use of a login 



Scanner

  • UC students, faculty or staff may use the scanner 
  • You may access your Network storage space or use a removable storage device 
  • If you need help scanning, please ask for help at the Information  Desk


Photocopiers

UC Library provides two photocopiers, located on the first floor of the Library 

  • Photocopies are $0.10 per page and the machines accept coins and $1 bills
  • Change is available at the Circulation Desk
